Republicans: You Broke It, You Buy It
All lies matter.

I remember how I felt when I saw tanks in the West Village, after 9/11. My whole body is paralyzed by the sight. I just stand there, absorbing the shock. What I witness is impossible; my beloved New York City, under siege.
It’s reminiscent of how I feel right now.
There’s a report in Business Insider that more troops will be in Washington than in Iraq and Afghanistan for the Inauguration. Let that sink in.
For the first time in my life, there is no peaceful transfer of power between presidents. I believe that alone answers Ronald Reagan’s political test,
Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
Patently not.
Several old adages come to mind. That’s because every mess in which we find ourselves can be righted with common sense.
It was all so avoidable. That’s the tragedy. So here’s an old chestnut for Republicans, who enable this lunatic in the White House:
You broke it, you buy it.
-If your party gives the nomination to a man who refuses to release his tax returns
-If your line of defense against his documented obstruction of justice is it’s not impeachable
-If you suspend habeas corpus for toddlers
-If you separate children from their parents as a deterrent at the border
-If you turn a blind eye to an attorney general who answers to the president instead of the public
-If you let 375,000 Americans die because the president doesn’t think he looks good in a mask
-If you let 20,000 lies go unchecked
-If you ignore the counsel of intelligence officials
-If you allow outrageous nepotism
-If you don’t speak up when he says the only way I’ll lose is if the election is rigged
-If you lean into gerrymandering; and those very same states in which you do are the states the president contests in the election
-If you are silent as he leads a charge against the Capitol and the election results
You are responsible for our current situation.
There is no excuse. WhatAboutIsm is the tactic of children.
This does beg the question of whether the GOP is even interested in a real democracy. There is one way to answer that question. Nothing about the solution is difficult, if your allegiance is to the nation, and not the man.
Trump needs to be removed from office immediately. That means today, not tomorrow.
We are six days into this insurgency. Today, the president let us know he isn’t sorry, and with these inflammatory words continues to lead an insurrection against the United States Government. Everyone’s life is at risk.
Mitt Romney is right. The greatest thing you can do for this nation is tell voters the truth. It’s no good to have more people die while trying to save your own skin. We all know what you’ve done, and why we are here.
The Republican hold on power is already gone; the voters of this nation did their job. It’s time to start doing yours, and take responsibility for what you’ve done. It is impossible to heal via lies.
The president goes today. If you use the same urgency with which you installed a Supreme Court Justice, it is an easy timetable.
